I simply love Iceland’s landscape! Rajan, have you thought about making the last two photos as abstracts by cropping out nonessential areas? In the 3rd: left side and some of the top; in the 4th, just the lower right or upper left. Just my idle thoughts.
Thanks, Bob. Yes, some of these images lend themselves to an effective b&w treatment and I plan to do just that in the future. For now I wanted to publish the colour versions for the striking cyan-blue patches.
It’s like God baked a crusty meringue out of ice. What a thrilling site. Especially in the video when you fly over the cracks in the glacier. I assume this sinking on top of Vatnajokull was due to some volcanic activity. Do you know what caused it?
Curt: The active sub-glacial volcano Bárðarbunga is right next to this area. I suspect there’s something going on underneath.
