Inaugural post of a new series, Light in Iceland.
The light in Iceland is exquisite year-round. From mid-November to early February, when the sun hovers close to the horizon, the light assumes an otherworldly quality. Likewise the light of the low summer sun makes for pure visual symphony. The soul-shaping hues of pink and red are poetry and music writ on the Icelandic landscape. Images made in this magical light will absorb us in this series.
To kick off, we focus on a Reykjavík icon, Hallgrímskirkja, at once recognizable from all points in the city and beyond.
