Birth of a new landscape.
The volcanic eruption that began on March 19 this year in Reykjanes, Iceland, came to a close in early October (this post covers the active phase). The result of the infernal broth churned forth from the Earth’s bowels was a strange, magnificent volcanoscape.
We made two excursions recently to this still-smouldering area. As luck would have it, on the first assay we enjoyed the exquisite light of the low winter sun. On the second attempt during the evening blue hour, we were witness to an entirely different scene. Adding to the charm of the central crater was the silvery sheen imparted by the ice & snow set against the stark lava field.
A short video is attached below the stills.
Thank you, Bob, Sarmila, & Premanand.
wonderful sight! thank you
Just magnificient images my brother! Flashes of “The Game of Thrones” scenes of the vast, solitude and natural monuments that make this Country a real gem! Your photography only enhances this! Well done my friend! Dan
Dan – the joy you take in photographs is an inspiration.
Another nice set, Rajan, with the 5th being my favorite.
Beautiful!
