Fall Tales From Iceland – 8

A feast for the senses.

Flateyjardalur, the long valley in the north of Iceland, is a very special place. But soul-uplifting beauty in this part of the world comes with strings attached: long, dark, and harsh winter months are a fact of life here. This idyll lies abandoned today, the last of its residents having moved out in the 1950s. Remnants of derelict farms punctuate the course of the river bed that drains into Skjálfandi Bay.

Here we shall dip into the glorious Autumn offerings of Flateyjardalur.
