Land of glaciers.
Hofsjökull – “temple glacier” – is the largest active volcano and the third-largest glacier in Iceland. It is the source of major rivers on the island including its longest, Þjórsá.
In this shot taken from a helicopter, we see the outlet glacial tongue Múlajökull and glacial rivulets that coalesce in this neighbourhood to give rise to Þjórsá. The sight is a geologists’ delight; a trained eye will discern several classical features of this glacial field.

Terrific!!!!!!!!!
Terrific shot! Well done!
Beauty is everywhere in Icelandic nature, this time caught from the sky. Wonderful semicircular pattern. Would this shot be possible with a drone or was the helicopter much higher than a drone’s range?
The controlling software of the drone constrains the ceiling to 500 metres from the launch point. It would take a software hack to bypass that limit and in many places it would be illegal to fly it higher. This shot was taken from a helicopter at almost 2000 metres.
