Remote and untouched, the Vonarskarð region of the Icelandic Highlands lies in the shadow of Vatnajökull. Here, colourful rhyolite slopes meet steaming geothermal vents, and glacial ice presses close – a landscape where fire and frost share the same breath.

My eye was drawn to the first photo and the patterns of the snowmelt on the nearest slope. They’re mesmerizing in their fractal nature, and I think they’re worthy of a closer look, if and when the mood suits.
