Winter sunrise in the sub-Arctic.
This is the first post of a series on the sand desert Skeiðarársandur in South Iceland. I expect it to range over three or four instalments.
The images were taken in the month of December when the sun stays close to the southern horizon over the North Atlantic Ocean. It was an extraordinary sight, the interplay of the glancing light with the ice, sand, and glacial streams below.
The scenery is awesome and the photos on my screen are a tribute to your ‘savoir-faire’ Rajan-bab. Thank you.
I’ve never seen photos of the braided rivers full of ice. Good captures.
Thank you, Curt. Yes, it was an unusual sight.
The sunrise shot is simply stupendous !!
Thanks, Sanjeev-bab.
Once again your photos of Iceland simply amaze me. Each is a feast for the eyes to behold.
Bob: Thank you. It is impossible to know a priori what you will get when you set out to photograph in Iceland.
Spectacular images me amigo! Very abstract yet natural in their presentation! I cannot imagine this desert in a land of the midnight sun and snow and ice! So well seen and photographed!
Thanks, amigo.
