Twilight glow.
The delectable sight of Ljósufjöll (“Light mountains”) in Snæfellsnes, Iceland.
In the first image, we have Skyrtunna basking in the glow after sunset. The word translates to “barrel of skyr.”

It is so fascinating to see the mountains so cold, without that sunrise or sunset glow that you capture so well. I really like it, especially the blue sky. The absence of gold is eye catching. Well done.
Thanks, Curt. As you well know, we get this wonderful glow pre-sunrise and post-sunset.
Beautiful, but I am shivering just looking at them. It must have been incredibly cold while taking the photos. Were you out there a long time?
Bob: Thanks. When I’m out photographing I’m suitably attired for the conditions. I can get back to our jeep quickly if necessary but in a helicopter with open door you just bear it.
Rajan, you are truly the Basho of the North !
Richard: Great to hear from you after a long time.
The starkness of the white capped mountain against the brilliant blue sky is mesmerizing me amigo! Just beautiful! Thanks for sharing the images of a distant and alien country!
Thank you, Dan.
Lovely pictures, Rajan. BTW, I always wonder how the names of the various landscapes are pronounced.
Atanu: Thanks. It is not that hard to pronounce Icelandic once you know the alphabet and their combination. Of course, it is very hard to get it exactly as a native Icelander would render it, but you can get close.
