Desert green.
The next installment in the series, a vignette of the volcanic sand desert along the Syðra Fjallabak route in the Highlands of Iceland.
Not all the greens here are alike. Notice the patches of neon green? That’s not the result of an incontinent Photoshop slider. It derives from Dýjamosi, a type of moss also known as Fountain Apple-moss (Philonotis fontana). Even in the starkest of environments, vibrant life finds a way.

So beautiful, Rajan. That neon green is as striking as the desolation by which it is surrounded.
I love the colors and contrasts. I spent many years working with fluorescent stains for microscopy, and those brilliant greens remind me of the fluorescence the dye fluorescein emits when exposed to UV light. Very nice!
