It’s watching you.
The Sanskrit word adbhuta comes to mind at the sight of this natural wonder deep in Iceland‘s interior.
It’s wearing an Icelandic sweater and it’s keeping an eye on you. There’s a short video below the stills.

Absolutely great images and video of the place and it’s bog iron (the red colour). The bog iron plays an important part of our history in Iceland. More information: https://skemman.is/bitstream/1946/33092/6/-Iron%20production-ritger%C3%B0-1_rr.pdf
Thank you, KIP, for your remarks as well as the very useful link.
Dear Rajan, wonderful video and audio as always; how do you choose such beautiful and appropriate music for your videos 🙂 Is the above just water, or volcanic? why is the colour such?
The ‘red eye’ (rauðauga) is the opening of a natural spring. This is a volcanic area and it is believed that underneath it lies a volcanic crater. The red colour of the river bed is due to the oxidation of iron.
AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!
Bob and Premanand – thank you.
You have already said but let me repeat…”Adbhut!”
I thoroughly enjoyed your movie, as not only was it beautiful to behold, but it gave me a much better sense of scale and perspective to this extraordinary feature of Iceland’s geology. Nice work!
Genius photography. Almost unbelievable that such a place can actually exist in nature😁.
Thank you, Anita. Good to hear from you.
