Sanctuary of the Earth Goddess.
Goddess Sateri is the reification of Earth and the sacred place it occupies in Goa‘s Hindu tradition. Temples dedicated to her are scattered across the entire land.
The tranquil hamlet of Shigao in the shadow of the Western Ghats is rich in natural and cultural resources. Its forests, farms, and orchards include Paleolithic sites of great interest.
Especially enchanting is the village temple setting by River Dudhsagar. The site is ancient, the physical shrine of recent vintage. These images were taken during the monsoons when Goa is a verdant delight.
