Gráakúla

Volcanic crater.

The 4000 years old scoria crater Gráakúla (“Grey Bump”) lies at the edge of the Berserkjahraun lava field on the Snæfellsnes peninsula in Iceland.

Pronunciation tip: Grá is like the ‘grow’ in ‘growl.’ And so, Grá-a-kúla = grow-aa-cool-aa.

Berserkjahraun takes after the Berserkers (whence the phrase “to go berserk”). You may read the gruesome tale of the two Berserkers associated with this lava field here.

These images and the video were taken with the DJI Phantom 4 drone camera.
