As the clouds gather.
One afternoon in 2017, in a hamlet nestled within the larger village of Divar, Goa, I came upon this scene during a lull in the monsoon. The respite offered this lady, and the dog, a few moments to savour. Overhead, the light was shifting quickly as clouds thickened, laden with cargo. I managed to ask her for a portrait before slipping back into the day’s wandering.

Thinking about your photograph again! Her smile follows me. Actually, at this age, she is blessed to have nature and this faithful dos as her companions!
Serenity! The elderly woman seems so much immersed in the peacefulness of her surroundings ! The beauty of Goan country sides! I feel like, she symbolises the simple pleasures we used to see in Goa alone !
Thank you, Sarmila.
Divar brings back what lovely monsoon memories, thanks Rajan

Juliet: Very good to hear from you and glad that these images stir memories of times past.
Monsoon season was a time I never felt dry amigo. Everything felt wet even with no immediate rain. This woman has a moment to reflect on the years that have brought her to this place. Much character in her face as well as a viewers delight. Of course my most favorite of all creatures lays by her side. Well done amigo!
Dan: Thank you. Yes, the tropical monsoon in Asia has a charm all its own, but for an American it may take getting used to.
I was transfixed by the unadorned beauty of the 3 images. You are a genius, Rajan-bab.
Thank you, Antonio-bab. I’m glad the images gave you such pleasure. But rest assured – a genius I ain’t.
