Wildlife of Árneshreppur.
The remote district on Iceland‘s Strandir coast, Árneshreppur, is home to barely 40 souls. A solitary dirt track serves as the lifeline connecting this isolated outpost to the outside world, and it is often impassable in the winter.
You could wander for days here without catching sight of another human. To the unacquainted visitor the area may evoke the feel of an abandoned movie set. To the discerning, the scenery and seclusion are especially conducive to awaken the inner yogi.
These portraits of the locals were taken over several visits spanning almost a decade.

Curt, Bob, Sajo, Sarmila, Dan, and Richard – thank you, all, very much.
Thanks Rajan. Very enjoyable. And strong evidence that returning again and again to a place pays off well. Richard
#1 is a collosal composition my friend! The scale it displays is almost unbelievable. The rest show the ruggedness of the Icelandic people in a country many people would not enjoy in any season. Myself I want to move!!!!
Hi , I thought there will be photos of wild animals…ha haaa…really nice human figures and moments of life of the snow country! thank you sir.
Beautiful photo essay with lovely images.
Enchanting. Your snowstorm scene just exudes ‘winter’.
I know this place, but have not had the pleasure of meeting many of its people; you’ve captured something special. When you titled it “wildlife” I’m sure we all expected something quite different. What a pleasant surprise. Thanks for posting this.
