Morning in Goa.
The monsoon takes a break as soft early morning light breaks through in Parra, my ancestral village.
The coconut tree-lined route, known locally as maadani (“among the coconut trees”), became a pilgrimage site for the Instagram midwits after it was featured in a godawful Bollywood film some years ago.
A video short is attached below the stills.
Hello Rajan-bab, My mother’s ancestral house is 3-4 homes to the north (to the right), behind the Parra Church. In the early 1970s, I was a boarder at Britto’s HS and would visit Parra quite often – this truly captures the Parra I remember. Thank you for freezing in time the good old Goa I remember! Excellent work!
Thank you, Owen-bab, for writing and sharing your memories of our beautiful village.
Beautiful! The ‘Instagram midwits’ quip is delightful. 🙂
Lovely imagery Rajan and great music choice to go with it. Parra is such a beautiful place indeed. Your Goa series always helps me when I am here.
Thanks, Gautam.
Sir, so beautiful a place is your Goa!!!Happy to tell you that i was in Goa last week for IFFI.
THANK YOU, SARMILA
Good to hear. Thanks.
Love the photos, RajanBab. I have travelled up and down this road many times, as a young man, on my Lambretta, while visiting Calangute and the surrounding areas. Parra, your village, is indeed a beautiful place. Thank you for the the photo that brought memories of a past epoch.
Very glad to hear it brought back pleasant memories for you, António-bab.
What a verdant paradise, Rajan! (And superb song choice.)
Composed by the gifted Chris Perry from south Goa who served as an arranger for many Hindi film music directors in the 1960s and 1970s.
Brought back good memories Rajanbab
cheers a
Yes, Ajit-bab, memories of a Goa evaporating by the day.
