Iceland on edge.
For the past week an intense earthquake swarm has taken hold in the volcanic Reykjanes peninsula in southwest Iceland. The area is very close to Reykjavík and within a stone’s throw of Keflavík International Airport.
We have been experiencing tremors every few hours in Reykjavík for several days now. Analysis of satellite imagery shows that magma intrusion has occurred and this increases the likelihood of an eruption.
At the heart of this tectonic activity is the old volcano Keilir (literally “cone,” in Icelandic) and Fagradalsfjall, the mountain range next to it.
Nobody knows what’s going to happen next. Icelanders, for centuries, have lived by the motto Þetta reddast. (“It will all work out fine.”)
The first image shows Keilir looming behind Bessastaðir, the official residence of the President of Iceland.

hello Rajan . Today when I went to the morning market i.e the Goan local women who are allowed to sell their farm produce on the footpath in front of the main market , it disturbed me a lot as they were telling me ” bai where should we go to sell our green produce”? by 9.30 a.m the CCP workers send them away and they were not able to sell . They asked me to tell any one from the media TV to make a video and talk to them about their plight . i am sure you have your contacts here to expose this gross injustice
hello Rajan may the Icelanders be protected by the Almighty .
What are wishing for Rajanbab? It could be a double edged sword… right?
Yes, Ajit-bab. The hope is that the eruption, if it occurs, will be localized and contained.
Dear Rajan, please stay safe.
Thanks, Prashanth.
