It is a beautiful composition of a beautiful bird. I have seen many fly around my area. There is a certain regality associated with them which is hard not to be moved by.ReplyCancel
how comforting to know that Goa has still beautiful birds What’s the Konkani word for it ? the day our forests are going to be cut for the transmission lines , I feel the bells will toll for our birds and animals . thank you for the endearing photos ReplyCancel
Amazing how you have brought out the details of the kite despite the sun around it
Sanjeev-bab: Fortunately the mist in the distance that morning helped attenuate the sun just enough to make this possible.

Thanks, Nishant. Yes, this bird has quite a personality.
Thank you, Gautam, Nachi, and Bob.

I asked Prof. Nandkumar Kamat and he said it is called “ghaar” in Konkani (not to be confused with “gaar” which is the word for monitor lizard).
Added: Prof. Kamat says (via Parag Rangnekar) that another Konkani word for the bird is “ghon.”
What a beautiful picture, Rajan! I was pleasantly surprised to learn of the brahminy kite’s association with Garuda.
Mind blowing Pic Sir
