Sólheimasandur, Iceland:
A glacial outwash plain on a freezing, pitch dark night; the ghostly carcass of an aircraft squeaking in the wind; the dance of the Aurora in the heavens; the relentless roar of the North Atlantic at your back. The frisson experienced in this setting is unforgettable.
The wreckage was light-painted with a torch (flashlight).

Great job, Rajan!
Absolutely stunning images, I particularly like ‘Ghostly’ for the colours and the light picking out the plane….nice.
Can you get to this plane easily from the road? It’s on my list of things to see next year.
What these extraordinary images fail to convey is the sheer grit and effort which went into their creation.
As I wallow in their ethereal beauty, feet up on the sofa, a warm cup of joe nearby, it’s easy to forget about the icy winds, the dangerous environment, the special clothing, the freezing hands, the all terrain vehicle constantly getting stuck in the ice and snow, the procurement of an expert guide to maybe cut the risk, the failing camera batteries, and so on.
Exceptional.
Great pictures of the plane and environment.
Great, like it !
The natural colour combinations are just amazing, awesome photography, Rajan bab
