The Goan way.
The balcão reifies the Goan idea of leisure. Where the matriarchs repair to in the evening for relaxation at the end of the day’s chores. These are now fast fading scenes. Who needs leisure in the Facebook era when you have so many ‘Friends’ to ‘Poke’ and ‘Like’?
Beautiful series, loved the first (amazing colors) and last one in particular.
Rajan, its alway a pleasure to go down memory lane the way you take us, your efforts to capture the essence of the nearly lost Goa are much appreciated.
Con,your mention of “Tabl” has sent childish excitement into me, it must been decades sice I said “tabl to boro” those were the excitements of the rainy days when we got togather in “bolcaos” to play “Tabl” and “Ladis” thank Con reminding
You’ve excelled yet again.
No balcaos like the Goan ones, where we sat & chatted and in the rainy season played cards or ‘tablam’!!
Absolutely awesome, we can see very few bolcao’s like that today. Dusk in Divar is just class.
Rajan, the word you are looking for is retire to not repair, although I’m sure those all balcoas need a lot of repairs 🙂
I meant “repair to” not “retire to.” There is a difference.
Absolutely superb snaps Rajan. We desperately need to preserve our old cultural heritage.
Please dont destroy old historical houses, they are face of Goa uniqueness.
