The final image is of the monument honoring Abbé Faria, the great Goan and a pioneering figure in the field of hypnotism. It was erected in 1945 and the Goan sculptor Ramchandra Pandurang Kamat commissioned to create the artwork.
The plaque on the northern side reads: JOSÉ CUSTODIO FARIA (ABADE FARIA) FUNDADOR DE DOUTRINA E METODO DA HIPNOSE PELA SUGESTÃO (José Custodio Faria, Abbé Faria founder of the Doctrine and Method of Hypnosis by Suggestion). [Reference: Snapshots of Indo-Portuguese History – I by Vasco Pinho]
To the left of the frame is the Palácio do Idalcão (Adilshah’s Palace) built c. 1500, and on the right, the Mhamai Kamat House (19th C).

How is it that none of your pictures (of buildings)ever have people in them? In India, particularly in India, it is usually impossible to find a few vacant square feet!
Amazing how you got a picture of the Abbe Faria statue without a single person or motorist in it. This area is always teeming with movement at every second of the day.
What does it say about the “soul of the city” when most of these windows are in such pitiful disrepair….Perhaps a cheaper camera might provide a more ” artistic” ( and less HD) view of these ancient windows…
