Kirkjufell

The enchanting mountain Kirkjufell (“Church Mountain”) is the signature of the fishing village of Grundarfjörður. This glacially-sculpted beauty dramatically changes its appearance with viewing location, revealing its many facets as you wend your way around the village.

Kirkjufell and its surrounds represent a rich photographic terrain, amenable to a variety of lighting and weather situations. During our days in Grundarfjörður it was cloudy for the most part; in these conditions compositions take on a brooding character.
