Offset steeple.
Built in 1845, Skeggjastaðir is the oldest church and parsonage in Bakkafjörður in East Iceland. Of particular interest is its unusual feature of an offset steeple. I don’t think there is any other church of this type in Iceland.

Just beautiful! Dan
Thanks, amigo Dan.
What you expressed so well in your photo, Rajan-bab, Richard Waller put it admirably in his comment.
Thank you, Antonio-bab.
Like how respectful these pictures are of a sacred place, especially since the church design could’ve been by a child.
Thank you, Richard, for your observation. Please see my response below to Bob.
Lovely. I simply cannot get enough of the iconic churches and houses of Iceland. And, your photographs add so much to their charm.
Thank you, Bob. These are rather modest structures. There are no grand architectural masterpieces in Iceland (except for the 20th C Hallgrímskirkja in Reykjavík) like in many European capitals as it was extremely poor for most of its history. That and the harsh weather meant most of the time and energy was spent surviving.
