As fresh as it gets.
Regarding the Goan predilection for fish, poet-laureate Bakibab Borkar said it best:
Please Sir, God of Death
Don’t make it my turn today,
not today
There’s fish curry for dinner.
Seen the other day in Miramar, Panjim. Plucked from the sea right behind her.
That wish for fish curry dinner… isn’t that a line from the poet Manohar Rai Sardessai? He speaks for ALL Goans in that line.
I apologize to Rajan-bab and the readers. Somehow, I omitted reading the first line where the author of those verses – Bakibab Borcar – was mentioned. My speculation as regards the author was wrong. Mea Culpa.
All that fish! Will she sell it all?
In Calcutta (sorry Kolkata) I learned to be ‘Bengali vegetarian: eat vegs, rice, and fish!
(
Yes, of course, she will sell all of it.
Rajan , can any goenkar stay away away from fish curry and rice ?
We know the answer to that one. 😀
Charming… as is the poem.
Thanks, Richard.
I am very familiar with the diets of most East and SE Asian Countries. Fish is “thee” staple protein in their diets. While in SE Asia for 2 years, I ate rice, fish and vegatables and , as with curry, I had my little bottle of “fish sauce” to add some flavor and “kick” to my food.I sure hope she sells all her fresh fish!!! Well done my friend!
Dan: Thank you. Yes, rice & fish are staples in SE Asia.
nice photo! bold and beautiful woman of Goa. thank you…
Thanks, Sarmila.
abundance in the foreground and her nonchalance are a superb juxtaposition
Thanks, Sanjeev-bab. She was rather shy.
