Iceland’s oldest turf church.
Portions of Grafarkirkja are more recent (17th century) but the site is ancient and references to it are found in the Icelandic sagas of the 12th and 13th centuries.
These images were taken in the warm glow of a late summer evening a couple of weeks ago.
Sarmila & Dan: Thank you.
Just beautiful with the lush green against the weathered wood with a grass roof. The long path to the church. Beautiful in the summer glow of the Northland.
Such a lovely scene! Looks like a temple for solitude! thanks…
Superb!
Thanks, David.
