iPhone attends a wedding.
Tulsi’s wedding was celebrated last month in Hindu homes across Goa and India. The Tulsi plant (holy basil) is the personification of Goddess Lakshmi and the ceremony symbolizes her union with Lord Vishnu.
In Goa, the ritual is centred around the Tulsi vrindavan in the front yard of the home. The women of the house assume the primary role in these celebrations.
These are scenes from last month in the Goan villages of Chorão and Tikhazana.
All the images – shot in RAW – were taken with the iPhone 14 Pro which, to my surprise, acquitted itself splendidly in this low light setting.
very beautiful
Rajan , i am so enthralled that these rituals are still performed in Goa . Hope the Future will not obliterate them from our minds
The Goa of old still lives in our villages. But for how long is anybody’s guess.
Ha, Sir, graceful visuals!!!
Thanks.
Brought memories, Rajanbab. Excuse my ignorance, but in which Taluka (old Concelho) is Tikhazana situated. Perhaps is Tikhazana the new name for Macazana, in Salsete Taluka. Thank You.
António-bab: Tikhazana (meaning three khazans) in Bicholim taluka lies northeast of Chorão and north of Divar.
