At the intersection of Castro and Mercy streets in downtown Mountain View, my home the past 25 years, is buried a time capsule. It was planted inside a custom-designed manhole in 1990 to be unearthed in 100 years.
“Among the contents are menus from a variety of downtown restaurants, a video on the downtown revitalization project (alas, VCRs appear bound for extinction soon), a bottle of wine, a pack of cigarettes, a condom, photographs, and a written synopsis of world events at the time (including the fall of the Berlin Wall).” (Quoted from the third letter here).
