Bardez suffered the most widespread iconoclasm of the early Portuguese conquests and almost all the major churches there were built on the sites of destroyed temples. That said, I should add that our churches do not invoke any negative feelings in me. Quite the opposite, in fact. I consider them part of our shared Goan heritage.
