A festival of light.
Pyramid Peak (6703 feet) lies in the Funeral Mountains of the Amargosa Range on the eastern flank of Death Valley.
The sequence below was taken earlier this month and explores daybreak on the eastern face of the range. This view receives scant attention from photographers for it is hard to break away from the many other iconic sunrise locales in the park. The changing hues drenching the mountainscape and the dance of light across the Amargosa desert made for some unreal moments.
Very nice sequence, Rajan! I find it striking how, in such an enormous park as Death Valley, it’s rare to see images shot beyond a few iconic locations. I really appreciate your work off the beaten path!
