Reykjavík Moon Rising

Beating the odds, we got to see moonrise on two consecutive evenings in the Bláfjöll (“Blue Mountains”) area near Reykjavík.

Both the images of the moon below were taken handheld. However, the second one was shot in fast fading light, and preserving detail in the moon while maintaining a reasonably defined foreground was tricky. Fortunately, I was able to recover most of the moon in post-processing (but took a hit in the area around its edges – okay, for displaying on the web). Update: I have appended another exposure of the same event, processed a little differently.

The third image was made with the remarkable Canon TS-E 24 f/3.5 L II lens.
