Autumn in Akureyri

Located a stone’s throw from the Arctic Circle, beautiful Akureyri is Iceland‘s second largest city (population: 17,000), and according to its proud locals, the country’s cultural capital. Ensconced snugly along Eyjafjörður at the base of towering mountains capped by snow for most of the year, Akureyri has one of the most spectacular settings of any city in the world.
