Low hanging fruit. Rainbows are wonderful but they don’t excite me as photographic subjects. We came upon this scene while driving in the Amargosa Desert between Death Valley and Las Vegas. It would have been perverse to not stop and take the shot. For a beautiful exposition on rainbows, see this.

Fiery. Early morning in the Amargosa Valley on the border of California and Nevada, not far from Death Valley National Park. No pixels or saturation sliders were molested in the making of these images. Conversion from ProPhoto colourspace to sRGB (for web display) crushes the Reds.
