Low hanging fruit. Rainbows are wonderful but they don’t excite me as photographic subjects. We came upon this scene while driving in the Amargosa Desert between Death Valley and Las Vegas. It would have been perverse to not stop and take the shot. For a beautiful exposition on rainbows, see this.

Mud flats, salt ponds, wetlands. As the B747 banked sharply on its final turn for landing at SFO, I caught this crisp view of the Ravenswood Slough in Menlo Park, California. A portion of the Facebook headquarters is seen at the bottom right of the second photo.

Springtime in Silicon Valley. Last light yesterday at Shoreline Park in Mountain View, California. In the first image below, three of Mountain View’s icons are seen in the distance: Hangar One, the largest wind tunnel in the world at NASA’s Ames Research Center, and Google headquarters.
